We went to tour the Opera de Paris Garnier. While there we tried to buy tickets for the ballet, but the days that we are available were sold out. We are considering showing up on the night and looking for scalped tickets. The construction on the Opera, designed by Charles Garnier for Napoleon III , began in 1862. There is a magnificent Grand Staircase of white marble. Unfortunately the auditorium was closed due to rehearsals, but what we saw was awesome.
The ceilings were grand - some were painted by Marc Chagall
And after the Opera, we went for a late lunch at Le Grand Colbert. Remember? The movie "As Good as It Gets" with Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton? It was one of the last scenes, and Diane Keaton and Keanu Reeves were having dinner in Le Grand Colbert and Jack Nicholson finds them there. Actually if you use les toilettes in the restaurant, they have a screen playing the movie.
